Let us
explain to you in layman's terms, how Google Adwords can benefit any
business online and why it is the most affordable and targeted
advertising online.
When you search for
certain keywords on Google, you will see sponsored links at the top
and on the right of the search results. These ads are linked to
specific keywords and will only display, if these keywords are
searched for. Now there is only a cost if a user click on your ad.
This is called CPC - Cost per Click. What is the cost? The cost vary
on how many other advertisers are interested in those keywords and
where the ad is displayed. The lower your ad appears on the page, the
less expensive, but less users will see it. The higher up the ad on
the page the more expensive and more users will see it and of course
more users will click on it.
The best thing about
Google Adwords is that you can monitor everything. Lets look at an
example.....

website designers, we pay R10 for a click to be positioned between ad
no.3 & 5 on the right. There are 300 users in Pretoria searching for
the keyword "website design pretoria" daily on average. O'yes, you
can also setup Adwords to a specific geographical area, which means
your ad will only display to users in that area selected. Getting back
to the searches done. This means our ad displayed 300 times - we call
this impressions. Of that 300 impressions, 10% of the users clicked on
our ad. That is 30 clicks at a cost of R10 per click - R300 for the
day. 30 users that are searching for a website designer in pretoria,
how targeted can you get?
Of that 30 users that
came to our website, 67% converted into business.
Now this is only an
example. You can of course decide to spend R500 a month and only pay
R5 a click, which will give you 100 potential clients that was
interested in your services / products.
If you compare this to
advertising in the local newspaper, you pay for a distribution of let
